Cool  I buy stuff to sell that we can use.

Sounds kinda strange.  But thats how I protect myself.  Don't get me wrong.  I will buy a pair of Lucky brand jeans in any size because I know they will sell.  Same with Bebe.

But other things.  Gap jeans or Aerostale - they need to be one of my 3 sizes.  Regular me, heavy me or skinny me.  Just in case.

Same with the kids clothes I've been selling lately.  Tons of cute things come and go in my daughters sizes.  What things don't sell go into their closets.  I don't ever pay very much for them - and I know they are quality things because now I buy the name brands.  Gymboree, Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, etc.

I am telling you this because my good friend Amy is starting to sell on ebay and she was following in my footsteps in reselling clothes bought at GW and SA and estate sales.  But she is in a sales slump right now and wants me to come over and buy her overstock.  ARGH!

I'm going to help her set up a store on bluejay.com and/or OnlineAuctions for all these things that haven't sold that she is feeling so antsy about now.

Just a word to the wise that you probably already knew.

Aeropostale - just realized how poorly I spelled it.

Another alternative is for your freind to take it to a high end consignment store.
I take many ebay rejects to consignment. It;s better than sitting in my way at home and I still recoup some money!

That would work if she bought only name brands - but she bought tons of things that are 'cute'.  On ebay no one uses the KEYWORD 'cute' to find a pair of jeans.  They want their favorite brand at a bargain price.

Off brand they can buy locally.

Consignment sells more than just name brand. She should check it out. I sell everything there.

Chris --
I wish our consignment shops sold off names but the two that are local - for adults - do not.  There was one a while ago that took everything in good shape - but they are long gone.

Okay, then, that's your clue to open one up! LOL - but it's a lot of work.
I operated one for a tad over 4 years. (1996-2000)

Yeeaaahhhh....not for me.

How could I justify closing the store on garage sale days?

I actually do clothing as well and I try to buy stuff that my friends can use too because most of them know that I sell on ebay and get great deals for stuff so I have alot of friends who will buy my overstock in their sizes, not only that we have about 3 or so yardsales per year and I really clear out then too, if not I donate to the church clothing drive.

Ya don't close!!! You hire someone to work those mornings!!
Plus every day is like a garage sale when you run a consignment shop! They bring in scads of stuff in boxes, etc and drop off and you, the owner, get the fun and going through it all and get first dibbs!!!
